Annually
The Dudhwada, Gujarat manufacturing facility now runs on clean energy, generating 3,85,000 kWh of solar power per year — a milestone in Chembond’s long-term ESG roadmap.
Dudhwada, Gujarat · April 2026
Key Highlights
Chembond Chemicals Ltd has successfully commissioned a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system with an installed DC capacity of 275.53 kWp at its Dudhwada manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The system, which carries an AC capacity of 250 kW, signifies the company’s commitment to integrating clean energy into its core operations and fits perfectly in its long-term sustainability roadmap.
The plant is powered by high-efficiency solar modules, supported by two 125 kW inverters. Installed at an 8°–10° tilt angle on the plant building roof, the system is designed for optimal year-round performance with an expected Performance Ratio (PR) of 0.78–0.80 and a weekly cleaning schedule to maintain output.
| 275.53 kWp Installed Capacity | 3,85,000 kWh Clean Energy/Year | 315 MT CO₂ Reduced/Year | 25+ Years System Lifespan |
“This project establishes Chembond Chemicals as a proactive contributor to India’s clean energy transition, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and responsible industrial growth” said Mr. Nirmal V. Shah, Managing Director on the plants commissioning.
Expected Energy Generation
| Scenario | Annual Generation | Units / Day |
| Low / Conservative | 3,71,250 kWh | 1,017 |
| Likely / Good O&M | 3,85,000 kWh | 1,055 |
| High / Optimistic | 3,98,750 kWh | 1,092 |
With India’s average grid emission factor at approximately 0.82 kg CO₂ per kWh, the installation is projected to prevent around 315 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year. Over its 25+ year operational life, the system is expected to offset more than 3,150 metric tons of CO₂ and generate close to 9 million units of clean energy.
Environmental Impact at a Glance
| Impact Metric | Equivalent Benefit | Per Year |
| Trees planted | Equivalent carbon offset | 15,000 trees |
| Cars removed from road | Equivalent emission reduction | 70 cars |
| Coal avoided | Fossil fuel displaced | 135 tonnes |
| Households powered | Indian homes served | 350 homes |
Beyond reducing carbon emissions, the project is also expected to conserve approximately 5,87,500 liters of water annually — a benefit that arises from displacing conventional thermal power generation, which is highly water-intensive.
From a financial and operational standpoint, the solar plant improves on-site energy resilience, reduces peak grid demand, and stabilizes long-term electricity costs by reducing Chembond’s exposure to tariff escalation — a growing concern for manufacturing operations.

ESG Alignment
The project directly strengthens Chembond’s ESG framework across all three pillars:
| ✓ | Environmental: Reduction in carbon footprint, adoption of renewable energy, and improved resource efficiency. |
| ✓ | Social: Enhanced sustainability reporting, strengthened ESG compliance metrics, and greater community benefit through clean energy access. |
| ✓ | Governance: Supports national renewable energy targets and demonstrates corporate environmental leadership aligned with India’s clean energy transition goals. |
Conclusion
The rooftop solar installation represents a strategic sustainability investment delivering measurable environmental and economic value. This project positions Chembond Chemicals Ltd as a forward-thinking, responsible industrial enterprise, and a proactive contributor to India’s clean energy future.
Over its operational lifetime, the system will:
- Offset over 3,150 metric tons of CO₂
- Generate approximately 9 million units of clean energy
- Deliver significant long-term financial returns through energy cost savings
- Strengthen Chembond’s corporate sustainability credentials and ESG ratings
